Training with a Difference!Call for Artists and Youth Workers.

WheelWorks is once again running its innovative training programme for
those working in the arts and youth sectors. Dealing with Difference
training examines issues of Racism, Disability and Homophobia
Awareness and will be delivered across three one-day workshops during
April 2012. The workshops will bring together the expertise of
professional facilitators and experienced arts practitioners who have
devised an exciting training programme that offers experiential ways
of learning and a safe place to explore these issues.

Participation is a key element of both youth work and community arts
processes and young people should be able to participate in the wide
range of youth activities and opportunities that are currently on
offer. However, we know from our experience that some young people
often feel marginalised and excluded because of their ethnicity,
sexual orientation or disability. Youth, arts, outreach workers and
artists face many challenges in working with issues around race,
sexual orientation and disability and often need to positively seek
ways of both including those who are marginalised and addressing those
issues that cause the exclusion.
