Onboard the WheelWorks ArtCart

What's on board?

The onboard equipment for the WheelWorks ArtCart varies depending on the type of arts activity being delivered.

The permanent equipment installed on the vehicle is as follows:

  • Four i-Mac computers                                   
  • Four M-Audio external soundcards
  • Four multi-channel headphone amplifiers
  • Four all in one Lexmark printer/scanners
  • Four Kodak digital camera docks

The computers have the following software installed:

Music:
Garageband, Apple Soundtrack, Reason, Ableton Live,Steinberg Studiocase
Photography:
Adobe Photoshop CS 4
Animation:
Animation Master, Adobe Flash CS 4
Film:
Adobe Premiere pro, i-Movie

     Misc :

           Adobe Creative Suite 4  Production premium

Additional equipment available when required:

  • Laptops (G4 powerbooks and Macbook pros)
  • Digital stills cameras
  • Digital video cameras
  • Various microphones and sound recording devices
  • Materials for visual arts projects
  • Portable stage lighting
  • 2 x Tecnic MK 2 DJ decks with Numark mixers
  • Midi keyboards
  • PA system (150 watt)
  • Headphones
  • Soundcraft mixing desk
  • Data projector

All Equipment and software is upgraded regularly so that participants have access to the latest industry-standard technologies.

Disability Access Features:

The Wheelworks ArtCart is fitted according to current Disability Legislation with an access lift and an induction loop system. Within the vehicle all thoroughfares and desk areas have the required specifications for wheelchair clearance.
The vehicle is subject to regular health and safety checks.

Group Numbers:

  • Max 10 - 12 young people aged 4 - 25 per session.
  • Up to 80 young people can be accommodated at ArtCart drop in taster sessions (in groups of 10 - 12 at a time).

WheelWorks ArtCart Costs:

Costs will vary according to workshop length, location and art from required. The ArtCart exists to make quality arts activity accessible to all young people throughout Northern Ireland, so we try to accommodate groups where possible.

Due to its size the Art Cart faces some access restrictions. It is important that you consider routes to your venue, access to parking areas and the maximum weight, height and width restrictions within your venue. Things that may make projects impossible at particular venues will be:

  • Bridges on route with load restrictions less than 10 tonnes
  • Gateways that are too narrow or where there is inadequate turning space
  • Parking areas which cannot cope with 10 tonne load
